Appreciating the little things in life

Bee and Grevillea

What are you appreciating today? (Feel free to let me know.)

When times are tricky, it pays to really appreciate the little things in life: a phone call from a friend, a walk in nature, or even a bee buzzing around a blooming grevillea in the garden.

Finding our Special Spaces

We all need to find our special spaces. The places where we can just be. Perhaps even soak up the peace and calm in natural settings. (And sometimes we just need to imagine them!)

Or even spending time by the local billabong — listening, watching, and just being. That’s where I was this morning.

Time to Bloom

Just like flowers in the garden, we can never be sure when we, or those around us, are going to bloom.

This flower, a grevillea, which for quite some time I thought was an evergreen, suddenly burst into flower seven years after I first noticed it!

Just shows that sometimes in life it’s worth the wait.

One of two places I love: the garden and the library.
Two things I love: stories and flowers.

Appreciating a Tiny Patch of The World

The reddish/orange wattle arches in the foreground. The yellow wattle stands taller in the background. A little red grevillea between the two. Such inspiration can be found, even in this tiny patch of the world that’s my front garden.
